2035 Industrial Strategy – Achates’ Response

In order to inform the forthcoming 2035 Industrial Strategy the government has issued a Green (consultation) Paper which has identified the Creative Industries as being one of eight growth-driving sectors.

The Strategy will focus on tackling barriers to growth in the highest potential growth-driving sectors and places, in order to create the right conditions for increased investment, high-quality jobs and ensure tangible impact in communities right across the UK. It is essential that the Strategy is informed by the experiences of the individuals, businesses and local communities it will support, and organisations and stakeholders are invited to contribute to the consultation process. And Achates believes that it is critical that subsidised literature organisations, small publishers and literary translators have a voice in this dialogue.

With the Green Paper open for public consultation until 24 November 2024, Achates invited three leading voices from the literature sector to lead a discussion at a joint Achates Live! and Achates Inspires online session to ensure this vital talent pipeline is not overlooked and to ask what is needed for the sector.
