Achates believes that we should be a vibrant part of the cultural ecosystem and we make our contribution in a range of ways: from pro bono sessions for organisations facing key challenges, to the regular support offered by Achates Live! Online and Achates Inspires, through to our sponsorship of initiatives and programmes led by the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation (formerly the Achates Philanthropy Foundation), including the Achates Philanthropy Prize (2016-2022), the 2021 symposium ‘All that’s been revealed‘, and the 2020 Thought Leadership Conference ‘Art, Audiences and Money’. More information can be found on the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation website.
We are proud to support the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation and their new Ticket Bank initiative which offers free/donate-what-you-can tickets for theatre, dance, music, comedy and film across the capital to those most affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
And we are delighted to be sponsoring the new Thought Leadership series, with its inaugural event on Wednesday 8 November at 6pm, with an unmissable in-conversation event with Darren Walker OBE, president of the Ford Foundation, at the US Embassy in London.

The 2024 Achates Philanthropy Foundation Prize
The Achates Philanthropy Prize is now biennial and won’t be taking place in 2023, but will next open for submissions in spring 2024.
In the meantime, alongside delivering the London Ticket Bank, The Cultural Philanthropy Foundation is currently developing a culture sector-wide public-facing campaign to raise awareness of the value of culture and the impact of cultural philanthropy. Led by major national institutions, ‘Culture is Creating’ will also give 50+ small to medium cultural organisations with a turnover of less than £1m. the tools to secure first-time gifts from audiences. For more information, including how your organisation can get involved, contact Foundation Director, Oonagh – email@example.com.
We are delighted to have sponsored the 2022 Achates Philanthropy Prize, the sixth edition of the only prize that celebrates first-time cultural giving in the UK and the democratisation of culture.
