Our Philanthropy
We’re proud to be a vibrant part of the cultural ecosystem, contributing to the sector’s strength and resilience in a range of ways:
• Pro bono sessions for organisations facing key challenges
• Achates Live! and Achates Inspires our regular free webinars drawing together expert panels to explore current sector challenges and opportunities
• Achates Community – our digital platform offering support, learning and networking, ensuring that organisations of all scales have access to the full range of Achates’ knowledge and expertise on demand, at a low cost, alongside a dedicated Bursary Scheme.
• Since our inception we have consistently donated at least 10% of our profits and in particular through sponsorship of initiatives and programmes led by the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation.
Recent sponsorship programmes include:
2025:
• The Cultural Philanthropy Foundation convened a symposium with the Delfina Foundation. Attracting the World: A Symposium on Soft Power, Purpose and the Politics of Persuasion brought together leading figures from across culture, philanthropy, business and policy to explore culture’s evolving role in shaping the UK’s domestic and international influence.
• Litfest 2025 (Lancaster)
• Clore Conference: Governance Now 2025
• The Museums Association Conference 2025: Belonging
2024:
• Achates proudly sponsored the second in the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation’s Thought Leadership event where Caroline Lucas, former leader of the Green Party, gave her Lecture – Another World Is Possible. Read the full lecture.
• In the same year, we were a proud sponsor of The Cultural Philanthropy Foundation’s Culture Makes… campaign, which saw over 200 cultural organisations across the UK celebrate the value and impact of culture using our 9 Types of Impact© Framework.
2023:
• We supported the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation’s London Ticket Bank which offered free/donate-what-you-can tickets for theatre, dance, music, comedy and film across the capital to those most affected by the cost-of-living crisis.
• And we sponsored the new Thought Leadership series. You can watch the live stream of its inaugural event with an unmissable in-conversation event with Darren Walker OBE, president of the Ford Foundation, at the US Embassy in London.
• Litfest 2023 (Lancaster)
This work builds on over a decade of sector support, including the Achates Philanthropy Prize (2016–2022), our 2021 artist-led symposium ‘All that’s been revealed’, and the 2020 virtual conference ‘Art, Audiences and Money’.
