The Purposeful Leader Programme is one of the key pillars of our Achates Community digital platform for income generation professionals in the cultural sector.
About the programme:
The Purposeful Leader Programme offers a fresh approach to leadership development.
The programme has been designed to offer those in the sector who lead (or who wish to lead) a space to come together, explore key leadership issues and develop the skills and tools to develop your leadership approach. It centres on the idea that today’s cultural sector needs leadership (at all levels) that is firmly grounded in organisational purpose and that we need leaders of today and tomorrow to be equipped to act as a conduit through which positive and lasting change can be brought about.
Delivered as a series of regular live facilitated online conversations, the programme offers participants the opportunity to develop their own personal leadership manifesto, to work with peers from across the sector to apply that manifesto to key leadership issues facing the sector today.
The programme offers a unique learning environment that brings participants together to provoke thought, create space for critical thinking and reflection, and collaboration whilst developing the crucial skills needed to develop a purpose-driven approach to leadership.

The Purposeful Leader leadership programme is available exclusively for members of Achates Community, our new digital platform.
Due to its popularity and in order to maintain appropriate group size we run the Purposeful Leader Programme across a series of cohorts throughout the year. Spaces for the Programme are limited so you will need to sign up to the next available cohort to secure your place and RSVP to each session to guarantee a spot. Purposeful Leader Programme Advanced
Building on the success of the initial Purposeful Leader Programme, we have developed a higher level programme – the Purposeful Leader Advanced Programme (PLP Advanced).
PLP Advanced is designed to enable members who have completed the first programme to deepen their learning and to continue on their journey towards becoming Purposeful Leaders and progressing their organisations towards becoming purpose-led.
The programme will build on learning from the original programme, further honing the skills developed by applying the concepts of purposeful leadership to organisational culture.
How to join:
PLP Advanced is currently available to graduates from Cohort 1 and 2 of the original PLP and begins in November 2025. Sign in to Achates Community to find out more and join.
