Case study:Achates Fundraises: Royal Academy of Dance

The Royal Academy of Dance is celebrating its centenary in 2021 and Caroline and the team at Achates have been invaluable for the Academy, devising an expert strategy which combined capital and revenue fundraising. Caroline and her team demonstrated an insightful understanding of our organisation, as well as intelligence and experience of the sector and the methodologies of fundraising. Importantly, the team showed a deep appreciation of the Academy and its contribution to the arts and community and brought an energy to working process. I would highly recommend them.

Esther McLaughlin, Director of Development, RAD

The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) has been teaching the world to dance for 100 years. The company has a passionate commitment to excellence in all aspects of the teaching and learning of dance, and in particular ballet. It is a global leader in the initial and ongoing education of dance teachers, and the country’s leading body for dance examinations.

As RAD celebrate its centenary year, it is seeking to ensure that the organisation is equipped and positioned to face the challenges of the next one hundred years. A crucial aspect of this will be relocating to a new global headquarters that will revolutionise the Academy’s offer to students at our home base in London and support activity growth across the country and the world. Achates worked with RAD in 2019 and 2020 to lay the foundations and support the campaign until a Director of Development was appointed. Commencing with a Fundraising Feasibility Study, which was followed by a Combined Capital and Revenue Fundraising Strategy to take the organisation through the period of the campaign and beyond, Achates also supported RAD with prospect research, bid writing and donor cultivation. The new RAD Headquarters will open in autumn 2021.
