Case study:Achates Recruits: Without Walls, Chair

Established in 2007 with a membership of 5 festivals and with the intention to provide a basis on which festivals could work together more effectively to support the small but growing number of artists interested in or committed to outdoor work, Without Walls has grown to become a significant network of 40 partners. Their aim is to bring those partners together to creative, develop, and tour innovative new work and invest in the growth of the outdoor arts sector.

Achates was commissioned to support the Without Walls team to recruit a new Chair. The position focused on ensuring the Board of Directors of Without Walls is effective in upholding the vision and values of the organisation and to ensure it can deliver its mission, aims, and objectives. We initially supported the team to develop a clear and compelling job specification before conducting an extensive sector-wide search responding to find the perfect candidate. We then engaged in initial conversations with interested candidates fielding questions from sector leaders interested in the position to secure a suitable candidate for this unique and critical role.
