Achates Recruits and Brings Change worked with Talawa, the UK’s outstanding Black British Theatre Company, in Summer 2025 to find their new Head of Development. At the time nearly 40 years on from its founding, Talawa was seeking an experienced development professional who could support it to strengthen three key philanthropic strands: Major Gifts, Fundraising Events, and an Endowment, as well as playing a key role in managing Talawa’s relationship with Arts Council England.
Using a carefully designed research brief, Achates identified and reached out to a qualified pool of candidates, resulting in Talawa’s successful appointment of an individual who brings significant senior fundraising experience from roles both within and outside of the cultural sector.
