Case study:Achates Recruits: Magic Me, Joint Chief Executives

In spring 2025, Achates Recruits and Brings Change worked with Magic Me, leading the intergenerational arts charity to shape and recruit a new joint leadership team. The process came about as the result of Magic Me’s Founding Director leaving the organisation after an extraordinary 36 years. We worked with the outgoing Director, the Chair of the Board, and Trustees to shape a joint leadership structure which represented the needs and priorities of the organisation going forward.
Achates support involved shaping clear role descriptions for two Co-CEO positions – one with a creative focus (Creative Director and Joint CEO) and one with an administrative and operational focus (Executive Director and Joint CEO). We then conducted a rigorous internal recruitment process ensuring transparency and fairness were central to the process – key organisational values for Magic Me. The process resulted in the successful recruitment of two Joint CEOs who are leading this extraordinary charity as it embarks on its next chapter.
