Case study:Achates Generates Income: Dance United Yorkshire

Our partnership with Achates over the years has been extremely valuable. In an increasingly challenging funding climate, having such skilled, experienced, and committed fundraisers by our side has been essential. Their thoughtful, hands-on support and genuine belief in the ethos and mission of Dance United Yorkshire have played a crucial role in helping us to sustain the charity, whilst also continuing to support our development and growth

Since 2011, Dance United Yorkshire (DUY), based in Bradford, West Yorkshire, has delivered high-quality, contemporary dance activities that create access to the arts and support some of society’s most vulnerable people. By bringing people together around ambitious creative opportunities DUY raises aspirations, empowers those facing socio-economic challenges, and contributes to positive mental and physical health.

Achates has been working with DUY to deliver flexible fundraising support since 2023. Working closely with DUY’s leadership, Achates’ support has included the identification of funding opportunities, application timeline coordination, and the development of strategic funding applications through both hands-on delivery and critical review. Achates’ support has enabled DUY to diversify its income streams by securing a range of strategic grants that will expand the organisation’s reach and strengthen its resilience. Recent funding successes include Baring Foundation, Garfield Weston Foundation, Hugo Burge Foundation, and UK Youth Fund.
