Celebrating Ten Years of Achates with Ten of Our Greatest Achievements

Cultural sector consultancy, #Achates, was founded in April 2014 with the aim of making high quality consultancy available to all. Every day we recruit cultural sector workers, fundraise and support commercial income generation, develop organisational and regional strategies, and support organisational change, but our purpose has always been to go beyond our paid work and to give back to our sector. And as we reach the end of our 10th anniversary year, we are celebrating ten of our key achievements and social value created.

1. Creating the Achates Philanthropy Prize

In 2016, having delivered the first of a six-year project with BOP Consulting evaluating the Arts Council England Catalyst and Catalyst: Evolve programmes, Achates drew on the key findings of the report: that audiences don’t understand that cultural sector organisations are charities which need support and that anyone can be a cultural philanthropist and in response created the Achates Philanthropy Prize which celebrates first time donors to culture. In year one, the Prize celebrated individual donors, but shortly after being presented with the Award, winner Nigel Farnall, suggested he creation of a corporate award and the second part of the Prize was born. The Achates Philanthropy Foundation was created shortly after to lead the Prize and is now the Cultural Philanthropy Foundation

Look out for our 2nd offering next week as we continue to celebrate ten years of Achates!
